Small group cruise on Lake Wanaka with a guided walk on Ruby Island, combining scenic lake views and an easy outing in just over 1 hour.

Tour Overview

When time is short, the Ruby Island Cruise offers a straightforward way to experience Lake Wanaka in just over 1 hour. This small group trip combines a scenic cruise with time on Ruby Island, often called the jewel of Wanaka.

The island is small, which makes the guided walk easy to manage and well suited to children and seniors. As you explore, you will see an eclectic mix of exotic and native plants, creating a layered foreground against the colours of Lake Wanaka and the mountains behind. The setting gives a clear sense of why Ruby Island is such a well-known feature of the lake.

This cruise focuses on the scenery rather than a long itinerary, making it a practical option for visitors who want to get out on Lake Wanaka without committing to a half day or full day trip. There are many chances to stop and take in the views during the guided tour, with the changing contrast of plants, water, and mountain backdrop shaping the experience.

If you are looking for a short, easy outing on Lake Wanaka that includes both a cruise and time on Ruby Island, this tour keeps the experience simple, accessible, and centred on the landscape.
