Cardrona High Country Pub Trail Horse Trek (Intermediate level+)

This half day horse trek, 20 minutes from Wanaka, heads into the mountains of Cardrona Valley for wide views across the Pisa and Crown Ranges and toward Cardrona Ski Area. The route climbs high country terrain, then drops down to cross the river before reaching the Cardrona Hotel for a break and a drink.

There are plenty of opportunities for trotting and cantering along the way, so this ride is suited to people who are comfortable riding at more than a walk. Tuition is provided, but this is not a just walk experience, and it is not recommended for complete beginners or small children. If you are booking, it is important to specify your riding ability so the appropriate horse can be selected for your ride.

The stop at the historic Cardrona Hotel gives you a chance to stretch your legs before heading back along the river. With mountain riding, river crossings, and open sections where the pace can pick up, this trek offers a more active way to experience Cardrona Valley than a standard introductory ride.
