Food and wine tour through Cromwell and Gibbston Valley with chef guide Aaron, visiting four vineyards, with a gourmet lunch, wine and cheese tastings.

Tour Overview

Travel through Cromwell and Gibbston Valley with award winning chef guide Aaron on a tour that combines food, wine, and the wider landscape of Greater Otago. This journey moves through boutique wine and food country and into the heart of what is described as the bread basket of New Zealand, with a focus on meeting the people behind the region’s produce.

You will visit four vineyards, with opportunities to meet the winemaker and chef along the way. The day includes a gourmet chef’s lunch with matching wine tastings, plus a cheese tasting paired with wine. Rather than rushing between stops, the experience is built around time in the vineyards and the chance to taste and talk through what is being served.

Transport is by upmarket SUV, offering a comfortable way to explore Cromwell, Gibbston Valley, and Greater Otago. The original tour description also refers to food, history, culture, the great outdoors, and a little of Lord of the Rings, aimed at travellers with a strong interest in outdoor settings and fine cuisine.

This is a grounded food and wine experience centred on named vineyard visits, regional produce, and guided insight from Aaron, with Cromwell and Gibbston Valley at its core.

What To Expect

This Is Not a Wine Tour. This Is an Obsession. Somewhere between the dramatic schist rock walls of the Gibbston Valley/Cromwell/Bannockburn and the rolling golden plains of Greater Otago, something extraordinary happens. Time slows down. A winemaker pulls a barrel sample just for you. A sommelier explains why this exact patch of Central Otago earth produces a Pinot Noir that collectors fly from London and New York to taste. You are not on a bus, You are not sharing a tasting room with strangers. You are a guest. Chef Aaron has spent years building relationships with the most exceptional small producers in one of the world most exciting wine regions. He knows which gate to knock on, which winemaker will open their best bottle, and exactly where to take you for a lunch that will have you texting your friends before the first course arrives. This is his world. For one unforgettable day, it is yours.
