Cruise Milford Sound on a smaller boat with live commentary, views of Mitre Peak and Sterling Falls, and possible wildlife sightings in Fiordland.

Tour Overview

See Milford Sound from a smaller boat designed for a quieter, more personal cruise. Passenger numbers are limited to half capacity, with a maximum capacity of 150, so there is more space on board and clearer views throughout the trip.

In all weather, Milford Sound offers a different side of Fiordland National Park. On fine days, the cliffs, sea and open views stand out clearly. When it rains, water pours down the rock faces and the fiord’s many waterfalls become a defining part of the journey. This is one of the reasons Milford Sound is such a well-known part of the Te Wahipounamu World Heritage site.

As you cruise, the skipper shares live commentary about the Sound, its history and wildlife. The route brings you close to key natural features including Mitre Peak and Sterling Falls, where you can experience the spray up close during the well-known “Glacial Facial”.

The smaller vessel also gives you a better chance to observe wildlife at close range. Depending on conditions and season, sightings may include New Zealand Fur Seals, dolphins and the Fiordland Crested Penguin in spring and early summer.

Complimentary coffee, tea and biscuits are served on board, making it easy to settle in and take in this remarkable part of Fiordland.

  • Complimentary coffee, tea and biscuits on-board all sailings

Not Included:

  • No food sold on-board the cruise
