Full-day return trip from Queenstown to Doubtful Sound via Te Anau and Manapouri, with coach, catamaran crossings, nature commentary and select hotel pick-up.
Travel from Queenstown to Doubtful Sound on a full day journey of approximately 13 hours, combining coach and catamaran travel through Fiordland National Park.
Your day begins in Queenstown aboard a luxury coach, following the shores of Lake Wakatipu and passing through rolling countryside to Manapouri township. There is a brief stop in Te Anau to pick up other passengers, with time to take in the scenery before continuing. From Manapouri, the journey carries on with a 50 minute catamaran cruise across Lake Manapouri, surrounded by mountain scenery, before crossing the 670 metre high Wilmot Pass.
The final stage is a 2 hour and 45 minute cruise on Doubtful Sound aboard a comfortable catamaran. Here, the pace slows and the emphasis is on the quiet of the fiord, the crystal waters, and the changing views of Fiordland National Park. On board nature guides provide informative commentary throughout the cruise, including details on the scenery and wildlife seen along the way.
This is a round trip returning to Queenstown. Picnic lunches can be pre ordered directly with the supplier after booking. Hotel pick up and drop off is available from select locations, and passengers should be ready at their pick up point 15 minutes before departure.
