Full-day Central Otago wine tour with tastings in Gibbston, Bannockburn and Cromwell, plus Arrowtown, a wine cave visit and Wild Earth food pairing.

Tour Overview

This full day Central Otago wine tour combines regional tastings with local history and a few memorable roadside views. With an experienced wine guide, you travel through three distinct wine sub regions, Gibbston, Bannockburn, and Cromwell, with tastings in each area.

Along the way, you may take in Lake Hayes on a clear day and pass the historic Kawarau Suspension Bridge, home of the AJ Hackett Bungy, where you might even see jumpers stepping off the bridge as you go by. In Gibbston, the tour includes a guided visit through New Zealand’s largest underground wine cave, followed later by a tasting and cheese pairing when you return to the region.

In Bannockburn, you stop at one of the local vineyards for a tasting, then sit down to a wine and food matching experience with Wild Earth. The meal features five dishes cooked using retired French oak Pinot Noir barrels, steamed, baked, grilled and smoked, paired with five Wild Earth wines. In Cromwell, there is another vineyard tasting, with an optional visit to historic Cromwell town if time and weather allow.

The final stop is historic Arrowtown, where you can explore the Chinese Settlement or wander the main street before returning to your accommodation.
