Guided Kepler Track day walk with a helicopter to Luxmore Hut, alpine and beech forest hiking, and a water taxi return across Lake Te Anau.
This guided day walk on the Kepler Track begins with a helicopter flight to Luxmore Hut, giving you an aerial view of Lake Te Anau and the surrounding mountain landscape before landing beside the track. From the moment you arrive, the setting changes quickly from broad alpine views to the open tussock country around the hut.
From Luxmore Hut, the walk continues on foot through alpine tussock fields with wide mountain vistas. If weather allows, the route may extend higher above the hut for more elevated hiking. The descent then follows a well maintained trail down from the alpine section into native beech forest, where the character of the track becomes quieter and more sheltered.
Further down, the path passes beneath limestone bluffs before reaching the lakeside. This shift from high country to forest and then to the lake gives the day a strong sense of progression, with each section offering a distinct part of the Kepler Track experience.
The tour finishes with a short water taxi ride across Lake Te Anau back to Te Anau. It is a varied day that combines a helicopter access flight, alpine walking, forest trail, and a lake return, all within one guided trip.
