Kiwi Park in central Queenstown is a 5-acre wildlife centre with kiwi encounters and conservation shows focused on endangered New Zealand species.

Tour Overview

Kiwi Park is a 5 acre wildlife centre in the heart of Queenstown, family owned and operated, with a focus on protecting endangered New Zealand wildlife. The park is home to more than 20 native species, including the kiwi, New Zealand’s national icon, and the tuatara, often described as a living fossil.

A visit centres on two key experiences, Kiwi Encounters and the Conservation Shows. During a Kiwi Encounter, you can watch kiwi in a dedicated viewing setting while hearing from the professional wildlife team about these birds and their care. The Kiwi House is also open for viewing outside scheduled encounters, although spaces during Kiwi Encounters are limited to 80 people and entry is subject to availability. Arriving at least 15 minutes early is recommended.

The Conservation Shows are 30 minute free flight presentations focused on endangered wildlife, offering a closer look at some of the park’s most notable species.

Kiwi Encounters run daily at set times, including 10am, 11am, 12:15pm and 1pm year round, with seasonal afternoon variations. Conservation Shows also vary by season, with regular sessions at 11:30am and additional afternoon times. This is a straightforward way to see native wildlife in central Queenstown while supporting a centre dedicated to conservation.
