Four-hour Lake Wanaka cruise to Mou Waho with a guided bush walk, native tree planting, and morning or afternoon tea overlooking both lakes.

Tour Overview

Cruise across Lake Wanaka on a 30 minute boat trip each way to Mou Waho, a remote predator free island nature reserve. This four hour experience includes time on the water, a guided walk, and a chance to take part in native tree planting on the island.

After stepping ashore on Mou Waho, join the optional one hour return guided bush walk to the top of the island. Here, the island’s best known feature comes into view, a lake on an island, on a lake, on an island. The island is also home to the Buff Weka, a rare flightless bird that is extinct on mainland New Zealand, which gives the walk an added sense of place.

Morning or afternoon tea is supplied and served overlooking both lakes, giving you time to pause before the return cruise across Lake Wanaka. With departures at 9.00am and 1.30pm, this tour combines a short lake cruise, light walking, and practical conservation through native tree planting. It is a grounded way to experience Mou Waho and its wildlife while spending time on Lake Wanaka.
