Tour Overview

Ride one of New Zealand’s Great Ride routes from Cromwell to Clyde on a self guided 42km e-bike trip, with an executive shuttle returning you to Cromwell at the end. The trail follows Lake Dunstan, on the opposite side of the lake from the road between Cromwell and Clyde, and the e-bike assistance helps make the distance feel much more manageable.

Along the way, the route shows off the engineering that made this trail possible, including sections built on clip-ons attached to the rockface and the Hugo Suspension Bridge. The trail surface is consistently good, so the ride is suited to confident cyclists aged 15 and over who want to set their own pace and travel with their own group.

You can stop where it suits you, whether that means a break at Carrick Winery, Burger & Coffee Afloat, or finishing in historic Clyde with a quick celebratory drink before boarding the shuttle back. Information boards along the trail add context to what you are seeing, covering the area’s history from the goldrush through to the building of New Zealand’s largest dam.

This is a flexible option for families and friends riding together, with adjustable e-bike assistance levels that help keep the group moving comfortably. Single riders are waitlisted and will be contacted to confirm availability.

What To Expect

Cycle one of NZ's Great Ride Routes from Cromwell to Clyde on one of our brand new fleet of e-bikes. luxury shuttle back from Clyde to Cromwell. A 42km ride on an excellent trail - with a very good surface - that will feel like 'half the distance' on one of our e-bikes. Executive Shuttle returns you to Cromwell. This is a self guided bike ride so you are free to move along the trail at the speed of your own group. Riders should be 15 years and older (our oldest rider so far has been nearly 70), fit and confident on a bike. You will see from the photos that this is a great trip for family and friends. The e-bikes allow you to choose your own 'assistance' levels (including 'off') which ensures that no-one has to put in too much effort or is left behind trying to catch up! With great places to stop along the way including Carrick Winery, Burger & Coffee Afloat and finishing by buying a quick celebratory drink in historic Clyde before your shuttle back to Cromwell. Single Riders will be waitlisted. If you are a single rider we will contact you as soon as possible to confirm your booking.

Meet at the Cromwell Junction Lookout. This is a large circular drive in lookout area. You will see a black Executive Mercedes Sprinter waiting to issue you with your e-bikes. If you are leaving a parked vehicle close-by please park it on the road.
