Ride the Lake Dunstan Cycleway between Cromwell and Clyde, a route that has quickly become a standout in New Zealand’s cycling scene. Set in Central Otago, this ride combines sightseeing with a demanding day on the bike, following a section that extends the appeal of the Otago Rail Trail.

The route is known for its engineered cliff clip ons, a distinctive part of the experience that gives this cycleway its reputation. As you ride between Cromwell and Clyde, you will take in wide Central Otago views while tackling sections that require steady bike handling and good judgement. This is a ride for people who are already confident and competent on a bike.

Lake Dunstan is not recommended for beginners. There are challenging sections along the way, and caution and common sense are needed to enjoy the ride safely. If you are looking for an easier outing, this may not be the right fit.

A minimum of 4 people is required for this tour to operate. If your group has fewer than 4 people, you will need to enquire before booking. For capable riders, this is a rewarding way to experience the Cromwell to Clyde section and see a different side of Central Otago.

What To Expect

Ride the incredible new Lake Dunstan Cycleway between Cromwell and Clyde. This is one of New Zealands greatest rides, with the engineers putting in a cycleway that is something to behold. Experience the cliff clip ons, take in the amazing Central Otago views, enjoy the ride. You need to be a confident and competent rider to safely complete this ride, we do not recommend this experience for beginners. Please be aware, we require a minimum of 4px to operate Lake Dunstan, please email us to enquire if you group is less than 4.

Depending on the direction of the trail that is being ridden we meet riders in Cromwell or Clyde for pick up before the ride.

Important Information

If meeting in Cromwell for Pick up we will see you on Alpha Street. We will contact you prior to riding to confirm heights and riding details and conditions.
