One-hour scenic flight from Queenstown over Mt Aspiring and Fiordland national parks, with views of Milford Sound, Mount Aspiring and Sutherland Falls.

Tour Overview

Start with a pre flight briefing from your pilots before lifting off from Queenstown for a one hour scenic flight that focuses on the glaciers and mountain landscapes of Mt Aspiring National Park and Fiordland National Park.

After takeoff, the route passes Coronet Peak, then follows the Shotover River and Skippers Canyon, where gold was discovered in the 1860s. From the Wakatipu Basin, the flight heads north into Mt Aspiring National Park, where larger peaks and ice fields begin to dominate the view. Mount Aspiring, rising to 10,000 feet, is a key highlight, along with major glaciers including the Upper Volta Glacier, Rob Roy, Bonar, Jura and Dart.

Crossing the main divide of the Southern Alps, the flight enters Fiordland National Park and continues through Glacier Alley, where the Olivine Ice Plateau comes into view. Near Mt Tutoko, Fiordland’s highest peak, you can also see the Donne and Age glaciers. The route then continues overhead Milford Sound, including views of Mitre Peak rising directly from the fiord.

On the return flight, the path tracks south down the Arthur Valley, where Sutherland Falls can be seen at the head of the valley. The journey then turns east over Lake Te Anau, crosses the Southern Alps again, follows the Greenstone Valley and emerges above Lake Wakatipu and the Remarkables before landing back in Queenstown.
