Tour Overview

This Air Milford experience combines two scenic flights with a Milford Sound Nature Cruise, offering different views of Fiordland National Park in a single trip. Your day begins with pick-up from centrally located Queenstown accommodation, followed by check-in and a pre-flight briefing before the 35 minute flight to Milford Sound.

After takeoff, the route passes Coronet Peak, the Shotover River and Skippers Canyon, then Glenorchy at the head of Lake Wakatipu, where the Dart and Rees rivers meet the lake. From there, you fly over the Routeburn and Hollyford valleys, cross the main divide of the Southern Alps, and enter Fiordland National Park. Highlights include Mt Tutoko, Fiordland’s highest peak, the Donne and Age glaciers, and Mitre Peak rising directly from the water in Milford Sound.

After landing, your pilot escorts you to the boat docks for the Nature Cruise. Passenger numbers are capped at 150, with reserved seating for Air Milford guests and commentary from nature guides. The boat explores the fiord’s edge, including sheer rock faces, and travels the full length of Milford Sound to the Tasman Sea. Along the way, you can view Bowen Falls.
