Tour Overview

See Milford Sound / Piopiotahi from three angles on this return scenic helicopter trip from Queenstown, paired with a 2 hour cruise with Mitre Peak Cruises. After take off, you look down on Queenstown before heading into the mountains toward Fiordland National Park.

The flight passes over Glenorchy and its surrounding landscape, then follows the braided Dart and Rees Valley rivers through glacial carved terrain. From the helicopter, the scale of Fiordland National Park becomes clear, with remote alpine country stretching far beyond the main routes. A remote alpine landing gives you time to step out into this high natural environment, breathe the alpine air, and take in views of some of the area’s most isolated locations.

You then land in Milford Sound, where your pilot takes you to the Milford Sound Cruise Terminal to join a 2 hour cruise around the whole of Milford Sound. Seeing the fiord from the water adds another perspective, with opportunities to spot seals, dolphins, and Fiordland Crested penguins.
