Guided canyoning in Mt Aspiring National Park, Te Wāhipounamu, with small groups, all equipment, lunch, and transfers from Queenstown and Wanaka.

Tour Overview

Step into Mt Aspiring National Park and explore a canyon in one of New Zealand’s most remote wilderness areas. Part of the UNESCO World Heritage listed Te Wāhipounamu, this landscape is defined by glaciated peaks, native beech forest and clear alpine water. Access is limited, and the canyon is reached with an expert team in small groups of no more than five people.

No previous canyoning experience is needed, but you should be comfortable in the water, have a medium level of fitness, and be ready to stay active in a wetsuit for up to three hours. The route involves walking, climbing, swimming, jumping and moving through varied terrain, with abseiling and slides also part of the day.

This is a hands on way to experience Mt Aspiring National Park rather than simply look at it. You will travel through an environment shaped by ancient water, with time spent in the canyon itself rather than in busy public areas. All equipment is included, along with a picnic style lunch and transfers from Queenstown and Wanaka.

If you want a physically active day in Te Wāhipounamu, this trip offers a direct introduction to the water, rock and forest of Mt Aspiring National Park.
