Tandem skydive above the Wakatipu basin near Queenstown, with up to 60 seconds of freefall at 200 km/h and a 5-minute parachute descent.

Tour Overview

See Queenstown from the air on a tandem skydive above the Wakatipu basin. After arriving, your skydive host helps you gear up and one of the Tandem Masters talks you through the jump, so you know what to expect before take-off.

The flight to altitude gives you a wide view over the basin, with the mountains and lakes spread out below. On the drive from central Queenstown to the dropzone, you also pass The Remarkables Skifield. Once you jump directly above the drop zone, the pace changes fast. You freefall at terminal velocity, reaching speeds of up to 200 kilometres per hour, with up to 60 seconds in freefall.

After that, your Tandem Master deploys the parachute and the experience shifts from high-speed descent to a slower canopy ride of about 5 minutes as you glide back to earth. The full experience takes around 3.5 hours, which allows time for preparation, briefing, the flight, the jump, and landing.

This is a direct, high-energy way to experience Queenstown, combining the build-up on the ground, the flight above the Wakatipu basin, and the jump itself into one clearly structured adventure.
