Guided day tour from Queenstown through Central Otago wine country, with visits to wineries in Bannockburn and Cromwell, tastings, and transport.

Tour Overview

Begin with pickup from your Queenstown accommodation and travel out alongside Lake Wakatipu, New Zealand’s third largest lake. Formed by glaciers during the last ice age, the lake sits beneath the Southern Alps, where steep, jagged mountains rise directly from the water. Along the way, your guide can share the Māori tradition of the giant Matau.

From here, spend the day exploring Central Otago’s wine country on a guided tour through Bannockburn, Cromwell, and, at different times, the Wanaka wine region. Over around 6 hours, visit up to four or five wineries and taste a range of regional styles, including chardonnay, pinot noir, and riesling.

The experience goes beyond the tasting room, with insight into local winemaking techniques and how different approaches shape each wine. You will also learn about matching wine with cheese, adding a practical element to the day’s tastings.

As you move between wineries, there are wide views across the fertile valleys that define this part of Central Otago. With round-trip transport from your Queenstown hotel included, this tour offers a straightforward way to see several wine regions in one day while gaining a clearer sense of the area’s landscape and wines.
