Day tour from Queenstown through Gibbston, Bannockburn and Cromwell with four boutique vineyard tastings, platter lunch and views of Lake Wakatipu.

Tour Overview

Travel through three distinct Central Otago wine sub-regions, Gibbston, Bannockburn and Cromwell, on a day focused on boutique vineyards and cool climate wines. Leaving Queenstown, the route takes in views of Lake Wakatipu and The Remarkables, with Lake Hayes often a memorable sight on a calm day. You will also pass the AJ Hackett Bungy Bridge before heading into the Gibbston wine region for your first tasting.

Across the day, visit four boutique vineyards and compare the character of wines from Gibbston, Bannockburn and Cromwell. A light platter lunch made with locally sourced produce is served at a local vineyard restaurant, accompanied by a glass of wine of your choice. In Cromwell, there is time for a second tasting in the Cromwell wine region and, when conditions allow, a stroll through Old Cromwell.

The return journey includes a third and final tasting back in the Gibbston region. Along the way, your wine guide shares the story of Central Otago’s early pioneering history and explains how this wine region developed. This is a well-paced way to see the landscape, visit small vineyards, and get a clearer sense of why Central Otago has built its reputation for wine.
