Half-day canyoning from Queenstown with ziplining, abseiling waterfalls, slides and pools. Includes gear, guides, hot showers; no experience needed.

Tour Overview

This half day canyoning trip packs a lot into around four hours, starting with check-in at the Canyon Explorers shop in Queenstown, 15 minutes before departure. From there, it’s a 15 minute drive to base to get fitted with canyoning gear, followed by a safety briefing before heading out with your guides.

The approach takes you through ancient native beech forest to the start of the canyon. Inside, the route combines ziplining, abseiling waterfalls, sliding, plunging into clear natural pools, floating through narrow passageways and moving down chutes. The experience is active and varied, with guides instructing you through each section and offering easier route options along the way, so you can choose the level of challenge that suits you.

This trip is designed for first-timers through to experienced adventure seekers, and also works well for groups and team building. No previous canyoning experience is needed, but you should be confident in deep water and have a reasonable level of fitness. The minimum age is 12 years and the maximum weight is 120kg.

After the canyon, there’s a short drive back to base, where changing rooms, hot showers, and tea, coffee or hot chocolate are provided.
