Queenstown: Lake Wakatipu Scenic Cruise (90 Minutes)

Step aboard a classic Queenstown lake cruise for a 90 minute journey on Lake Wakatipu, travelling from Queenstown Bay to the end of the lake and back. Departing from Queenstown’s main jetty, this relaxed cruise gives you time to take in the shoreline from the water, with live commentary from a local crew.

As you sail out of Queenstown Bay, you’ll pass Queenstown Gardens and see Queenstown Central along the waterfront. The route then takes you past the Queenstown Golf Course on the Kelvin Heights Peninsula, where the course sits above Lake Wakatipu. From here, the cruise continues through generally calm water, following the shoreline lined with large homes.

Further on, you’ll pass willow islands and local birdlife before reaching the historic Kawarau Falls Dam, the point where the Kawarau River begins. There is also a stop for photos with views of The Remarkables mountain range.

The return journey follows the opposing shoreline, where you can look across to the Frankton Arm shoreline and the Frankton Arm Trail before heading back to Queenstown Bay. With smaller groups and a fully licensed onboard bar, this cruise offers a comfortable way to see well known parts of Queenstown from the lake.
