Full-day guided walk on the Routeburn Track in Mt Aspiring National Park, with return transport from Queenstown, lunch, snacks and varied terrain.

Tour Overview

Spend a day walking a section of the Routeburn Track in Mt Aspiring National Park, with return transport from Queenstown included. Recognised as one of New Zealand’s Great Walks and rated among the world’s Top Ten Classic Hikes, this full day trip follows the track at a moderate pace through forest and open meadows, with views building towards snow capped peaks.

Along the way, your guide shares commentary about the region, including its flora and fauna, while the track is shaped by the sounds of rivers, waterfalls and native birds. The walk is designed as a full day in the outdoors, with lunch and snacks provided.

This trip requires a steady level of fitness. You need to be comfortable with a continuous 2 hour incline to Flats Hut, and there may also be a further 1.5 hour steep hike to Falls Hut. Conditions underfoot can include rocky paths, slippery sections, uneven ground, exposed tree roots, and both steep climbs and descents. The group stays together throughout the day, so it suits walkers who can maintain a consistent pace over varied terrain. If that feels beyond your current fitness, the half day hike may be a better option.
