Tandem skydive from Wanaka Airport with a 20-minute flight over Mt. Cook, Mt. Aspiring and the Clutha River, plus free transport from central Wanaka.

Tour Overview

Your skydive begins at the Skydive Wanaka drop zone at Wanaka Airport, just 10 minutes from central Wanaka. After check-in, you will be fitted with all provided equipment and introduced to your tandem master before boarding the plane. Warm, comfortable clothing and closed toe shoes are recommended.

The 20-minute flight to altitude is a scenic part of the experience in its own right. As you climb above Wanaka, your instructor points out Mt. Cook, Mt. Aspiring, the Southern Alps, up to six lakes, and the Clutha River. From the aircraft, you can also look out over snow-capped mountains and glaciers before the door opens and the jump begins.

In freefall, you can reach speeds of up to 125 miles per hour, or 200 kilometres per hour, for up to 60 seconds. After the parachute opens, the pace changes completely, giving you time to take in the landscape as you descend gently toward the landing area.

Back on the ground, you can celebrate the jump while waiting for your edited video and photos. This three-hour skydiving adventure includes free transport from central Wanaka, making it a straightforward way to experience one of New Zealand’s best-known alpine landscapes from the air.

Once you are at the drop zone you will be greeted by our friendly staff that will help to get you checked in, geared up and ready to meet your tandem master. When you have met your 'beautiful stranger' you will head off to the plane and take a 20-minute scenic flight to altitude. As you fly over the Southern Alps your instructor will point out Mt. Cook, Mt. Aspiring, the Southern Alps, up to 6 lakes and the Clutha River. At altitude the door of the plane will open and this is where the fun begins. "Freefall feels like flying," so make sure you keep your eyes open, and capture your thrilling moments whilst reaching speeds of up to 125 miles per hour (200 kilometres per hour). After up to 60-seconds your parachute will open and you will get the chance to take in the views as you gently fly back down to the landing area.
