4.5-hour Queenstown tour with views from Queenstown Hill, Arrowtown free time, Gibbston wine tasting, and a Lake Whakatipu cruise.

Tour Overview

This 4.5 hour tour offers a well-paced introduction to Tāhuna Queenstown, combining local history, well-known viewpoints, wine, and time on Lake Whakatipu. Departing from the Station Building in Queenstown Town Centre at 8.30 am, you begin with a short drive to the top of Queenstown Hill for wide views over the town and its mountain backdrop.

From there, the route follows the Shotover River, where you can watch jet boats moving through the canyon and see the Edith Cavell Bridge from the viewing platform. The drive then continues beneath Coronet Peak ski field to Arrowtown, where you have free time to explore the former mining village. You can join your guide for gold panning or wander independently, with time to browse the Arrowtown Bakery, local gift stores, or the Remarkable Sweet Shop.

In the Gibbston wine region, known for Pinot Noir, the tour stops at the Kawarau Bungy Bridge, the original home of Bungy jumping, where you can watch jumpers from the viewing area. At The Church Cellar Door, set in a refurbished church, you’ll taste Mt Edwards wines served with a shared cheese board. Non-alcoholic options are available.

The tour finishes with a 25 minute guided lake cruise from Frankton Marina across Lake Whakatipu, returning to Queenstown Bay at 1.00 pm.
