Wild Hills Off Road Safari

Travel by 4WD through the private backroads of West Wanaka Station, a working high country farm in the mountains above Lake Wanaka. This tour goes beyond the farm gate, taking you into parts of the station not usually accessed, with a real sense of daily farming life in an alpine setting.

As you climb high into the mountains, you will pass herds of Red Deer, Angus cattle and sheep grazing in the open landscape. The route follows Wanaka’s own "road to heaven", rising to around 1000 metres for wide views over Lake Wanaka and across to Mt Aspiring National Park. There are easy alpine nature walks along the way, giving you time to step out and take in the scale of the country.

At the station’s exclusive alpine cafe, pause for freshly brewed coffee and tasty treats while looking out across the surrounding ranges.
