Wildwire Wanaka- Level 2 (4 Hours)

Set on a private working deer farm in the mountains, 20 minutes from Wanaka, this Level 2 intermediate climb follows the route on from Level 1 and steps things up with steeper sections, bigger views, and more time on the wall. The experience takes place beside what is described as the highest waterfall cable climb in the world, with guides alongside you throughout.

Expect around 3 hours of climbing steel ladder rungs next to a vertical waterfall, plus six bridge crossings that keep you close to the water as the route rises. The higher you go, the wider the mountain views become, while the clean air and exposed terrain add to the sense of elevation. A head for heights will help, as this climb is designed for people who are comfortable being above the ground and ready for a physical challenge.

The tour finishes with an approximately 45 minute walk down a mountainside trail, giving you time to come off the climb and take in the setting on the descent. No previous experience is required, and the operator highlights its focus on guides, training, gear, and policies. If you are unsure about the intermediate level, the Level 1 beginner climb is suggested as a shorter introduction.
