This small group e-bike tour begins with pickup anywhere in Wanaka at your preferred time, followed by a 35-minute drive to Bannockburn. After a 20-minute orientation, you set out on an easy ride designed for beginners, with a flat, wide trail and support available if needed. First aid kits, maps, and a spare bike are provided, and although the ride is not guided, help is nearby.

The route starts at Smiths Way and follows the first leg of the Lake Dunstan cycleway. Ride 16 kilometres to Cromwell Heritage Precinct, where you can stop for a coffee and look around this gold rush area dating back to the 1860s. From there, continue along the Kawarau arm of Lake Dunstan for a further 7 kilometres to Bannockburn Bridge, where the Dunstan Cycle Trail begins.

Your first winery stop is Carrick Winery. After that, you can follow the marked trail to a selection of wineries or dining spots in the Bannockburn vineyards, with time to explore the region’s food and wine at your own pace. The full trip lasts around 6 hours, with about 2 hours of riding. When you are ready, pickup is arranged and you are returned safely to your accommodation, so you can enjoy the wine without worrying about the drive back.
